Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 2, 2026

CJT Coastal ("we," "our," or "us") operates The Bite mobile application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Location data. With your permission, The Bite uses your device's GPS location to show nearby fishing conditions, species activity, and local tide data. Location is used only while the app is in use and is not stored on our servers without your action (e.g., logging a catch with a location attached).

Catch log data. When you log a catch, we store the species, bait, date, optional location coordinates, and any photo you attach. This information is associated with your account and used to improve activity data for other anglers in your region.

Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address for authentication purposes.

Usage data. We may collect anonymous usage information (such as which screens are viewed) to improve the app. This data is not linked to your identity.

How We Use Your Information

Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your data with third parties except:

Catch activity data contributed to regional species reports is aggregated and anonymous — individual catches are never publicly attributed to a specific user.

Third-Party Services

The Bite displays data from the following public APIs. These services have their own privacy policies and receive only the query parameters necessary to return data (such as a NOAA station ID or geographic coordinates):

Photos

If you attach a photo to a catch log entry, the image is stored securely in your account. We do not use catch photos for any purpose other than displaying them in your personal log.

Data Retention

Your catch log and account data are retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

Children's Privacy

The Bite is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. To do so, contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. Continued use of The Bite after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
